Got the artefact after 10 days, I hope I didn't miss any journal entries... the last one seemed a bit like a last entry, but I don't know for sure... was a neat story that accompanied this game. I really like how you can manage your moves such that you can (almost) always get the first hit, just by putting in some effort in finding the right location to fight.
At first I was really confused as to why the upgrades didn't work, but that was just me reading the numbers wrong, interpreting an L as a 1. The font fits the game, but also makes this an easy mistake to make.
It's a crime that this game wasn't even in the top 5 for the gain jam. I mean the lassoing mechanic, plus the lack of buffer with the movement... it makes for a very replayable speedgame. Trying to get more than 45 or 50 lbs in the first round too while going fast is pretty fun. Unfortunately I broke my downarrow replaying it recently LOL but yeah this is my personal winner of gainjam 2022 I just think that you need to better explain and advertise what makes this gem so special.
forgot to actually send this when i wrote it lol!
Well, the maximum weight I reached was 2000lb before finishing the game.
What are the controls?
how do i upgrade
nvm i did not have enough for an upgrade
How in the name of funk do you use the upgrade menu
Edit: ok, so you just click on the upgrade 'button' but you can't do it on day one, can only do it once a day, and must alternate between them.
pretty fun, simple dungeon crawler!
I would like to recommend two things though:
first, a light perk, something to expose more of your surroundings.
and second, an outro!~ I was looking forward to reading what more happened between our protagonist and her favorite sugar-goo-minion, but then I beat the game...
It's really neat! Though the pixel text on is sometimes hard to read or confusing. It's really low-res on the big text dump, making reading it hard, while on the upgrade screen the weight part down below makes the l in lb look like a 1.
The text is a bit big in general, though I do play it in fullscreen on a 2560x1440, so there is that.
On another note, walking requires pressing the button over and over, instead of being able to just hold it down, that's a bit annoying over a long time.
What would also be nice is a way to spend a turn without moving, like walking against a wall. That could with the fights a bit.
